Dance-pop maestro Yung Bae is excited to announce his highly anticipated album Groove Continental: Side B is out today (10/6/23). Tapping into the core elements of vaporwave and future funk, Yung Bae’s upbeat and nostalgic approach to production gives Groove Continental: Side B a blissfully feel-good sound tailored to evoke positive emotions. The album arrives alongside Yung Bae’s new music video for “Fight My Demons,” watch here.

With Groove Continental: Side B, Yung Bae continues his prolific run of sensational, dance-friendly tunes and further proves why he is hailed “one of the leading purveyors of future funk.” The nine-track album is comprised of an all-star cast of musical talents including multi-platinum producer Diamond Pistols, funk legend Nile Rogers, and Quinn XCII collaborator YOG$. The album also features captivating melodic performances from Mayer Hawthorne and Tim Atlas, exhilarating verses from Khary and Felly, and more.

“With Groove Continental: Side B, I really wanted to continue and pick up where I’d left off with Side A. To me this album feels not only like a continuation of Side A, but also something that helps complete this series. This album feels like the perfect end to summer and the perfect start to fall. Every track was made with dancing in mind and I can’t wait for you all to hear it,”

– Yung Bae on new album

A pioneering sampler, producer, and songwriter, Dallas Cotton a.k.a. Yung Bae touches on everything from vaporwave to funk, Japanese city pop to electropop. He credits this range of inspiration to chillwave acts like Neon Indian, rock bands like The Doobie Brothers, DJs like Madlib, 90s hip-hop, or really, “anybody who’s touched funk”.  After making a mark via a major label, he jumped back to the independent world where he could chase down his wildest creative ideas—including a slinky nautical journey for 2022’s Groove Continental: Side A featuring Channel Tres, EARTHGANG, Jon Batiste, and others. Yung Bae has racked up over 1.5 billion streams with previous support from NPR, NYLON, Teen Vogue, Ones To Watch, Billboard Dance, and more. On the live circuit, Yung Bae has performed at Coachella, Outside Lands, Firefly, Life is Beautiful, CRSSD, Electric Forest, and more. He’s also toured the world twice with sold-out shows across Asia and the United States.

Before enlisting features from Barney Bones and Leven Kali, “Fight My Demons” originated as a collaboration between Yung Bae and Diamond Pistols. Yung Bae explains, “Once we brought Barney on we knew we had something special. After some time we ended up all linking with Leven and he threw his sauce on what is now our song! Couldn’t be more happy with how it came out and I’m looking forward to everyone listening!”

Barney Bones recalls, “[Yung Bae and Diamond Pistols] were working on the beat in the upstairs room, and I high key crashed their session, but as soon as Dallas asked me to hop on the record, I was excited because I knew we’d make something special.”

Leven Kali adds, “We just had fun cooking this one up and you can feel it in the track. Time for dance music!”

Yung Bae is set to embark on a North American tour in support of his new album, traveling across the continent from Washington, DC, to Vancouver, BC. The tour includes a particularly anticipated stop at Elsewhere on October 7th in Brooklyn, NY. The buzzing New York date — a full venue takeover by Yung Bae and album release party for Groove Continental: Side B — will feature support from Eden Prince, Ty Sunderland, Engelwood, and performances from local drag queens to round out the celebratory night.
