Young Hellboy Issue 1 Comic Book Review

Young Hellboy Issue 1 Comic Book Review

The Hidden Land Review

Today, I was able to sit down and get a good read of this new comic book by Mike Mignola, Thomas Sniegoski, Dave Stewart and Craig Rousseau. The new comic is titled Young Hellboy and is part 1 of 4 issues that will take you on a journey that will shiver your timbers. In this first issue, I saw how Young Hellboy and Professor Bruttenholm going on a trip together. There are many organizations that are not too fond of the professor’s choice to raise Young Hellboy, so we will see a tidbit of that in this issue.

I’m excited to read this issue as I’m curious to see how this adventure of this magnitude with the professor and Young Hellboy play out. I felt, while reading this issue, that you are taken back into time where mystery is still not unraveled so easily. When you have a chance to read this short review, be sure to click the link below and get yourself a copy of this comic. You will get lost with the professor and Young Hellboy on their South American trip.

Pro:

  • The Story:
    • In this first issue, we see Young Hellboy and Professor Bruttenholm arrive at an airfield to take a trip to a dig site. They were accompanied by a young man that is very suspicious throughout the flight. A situation occurred on flight that caused the plane to crash and had Young Hellboy and the professor on a life boat. Then out of nowhere, there are giant craps near them. As they fend off the previous young man in the ocean, the crabs took the man away. While that was happening, a gorilla tore apart those crabs which gave a good scare to Young Hellboy and the professor. As they made it on land, they discover they are no longer in Kansas and are in for an adventure of a lifetime.
  • Artwork:
    • Craig Rousseau brought the story to life with his art throughout the issue. With each page turned, I felt like the words spoke directly to the art of the current scene I was reading. I enjoyed seeing this particular art that gave life to this comic book.
  • Historic Involvement
    • I’m a big history buff and enjoy reading about stories and myths from the past. In this issue, we are introduced to a lost island that involves some things that we thought were just a mystery in the past. I like how they gave introduced those mysterious animals in the issue where you want to say out loud “NO WAY”! I can’t wait to read further on what other surprises occur in the next issue.

Con:

  • None

Rating: 9.3 out of 10

I have to say that I was very excited to read and see a different journey of the Hellboy franchise. In this comic book series of Young Hellboy, he and the professor take a journey of the lifetime. They want to go on a journey to a dig site but may have discovered a mystery hidden far away. They may have found something worth wild in this trip but so far have experienced a bit of terror. I’m liking the way the story flows so smooth while the art gives you those emotional facial expressions you maybe copying yourself too! This is one issue you can’t just pass up!
