‘Wide Eyed Elk Ensemble’ The Latest EP From Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Fences Is Out Now

While singer-songwriter Christopher Mansfield (aka FENCES) has made a name for himself via a steady string of critically acclaimed solo releases and collaborations with the likes of Tegan and Sara, Macklemore, Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla, and others, it’s his recent track “Globe” with Grammy Winning artist Billy Strings that’s bringing renewed attention to Fences’ latest 5-song EP ‘Wide Eyed Elk Ensemble.’

“Globe,” released last week, has been garnering praise from outlets such as Rolling Stone, Glide, Jambase, and more.

On working with Strings, Mansfield says “Globe” was recorded with Jonathan Wilson in Topanga Canyon. We tracked the song live together with the exception of a few over dubs. Billy and I had sorted out the final arrangement of the song over the telephone months before. He was in Tennessee I believe and I was in the woods of California knee-deep in snow. He is truly a force of nature and it’s a tremendous honor for me to make art work with him. I hope it hits everyone’s ears with love and fearlessness in the way we intended.”

Released in late-April via Enci Records, Fences’ ‘Wide Eyed Elk Ensemble’ builds on the sounds of his previous effort, the critically acclaimed LP ‘Failure Sculptures,’ which was released as an expanded deluxe edition earlier this year.

With unanimous praise from outlets like Paste Magazine, Clash, Spin, American Songwriter and others, Fences hopes to be back out on the road soon in support of the new EP.
