We Are The Thousand is a documentary that showcases the power of music for individuals that live, breath, and sleep music. Fabio, a marine biologist, loves rock music and is able to organize over 1,000 musicians from Italy to descend to his hometown to play a song they all can enjoy. All together, they play the song Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters which sound pretty damn good. They did an amazing job playing to get together and even get the attention of Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters.

I have to admit, I’m not the biggest Dave Grohl or Foo Fighters fan but I know good music when I hear it. Learn to Fly is a good song from the Foo Fighters and used to see the music video all the time growing up on MTV. The backstory of this whole documentary and with the countless hours of working to bring this together for the musicians to play Learn to Fly is just astonishing! I understand bringing in a few people but with 1,000 musicians to a small town to play a song is just unbelievable. I had to see it to believe it and all the musicians did a fantastic job. This is a good documentary to check out for fans of music to know how hard it can be to bring together a team of musicians to play a song. Now times that by 100!

  • The will of a person to organize an event with 1,000 musicians and even able to convince Dave Grohl to bring the Foo Fighters to perform in that small town, is just amazing! I enjoyed how the film maker followed Fabio and takes you on the journey on why he wanted the performance but also he united a country with music.
• Power of Music
  • Many people don’t realize the power of music being sung and played can be for everyone involved. Music is a way to get that voice out for people that want to express their art. Fabio did just that when he organized this event to bring over 1,000 musicians from all around Italy to his small town Cesena.
• Dave Grohl
  • With the power of music, I didn’t fully expect Dave Grohl to go by and meet with the team. I would have thought he would have sent a zoom video or something to that accord to thank them. I didn’t think he would actually go and meet them to thank and talk to them. Very classy guy!
