As person that uses his PC daily either for gaming or business, you need to have speed at your finger tips. The speed of your hard drive gives your PC access to games, applications and the occasional funny Mandalorian meme. I wanted to find a drive that will not only take my business and gaming into a new year but reassures myself the reliability that this drive will keep my files safe and sound.
I ordered this drive from Best Buy during Black Friday and was able to install this drive onto my PC. The WD BLUE SATA SSD 500 GB is the drive I had picked to take my computer in the next generation or into the next year. My friend and I installed the drive into the PC, cloned transfer Windows 10 while removing the partition of the other hard drive to become a secondary drive for that PC. The video will be coming out soon for that but for now, here is my review of the drive.
Pro:
- Fast Boot Ups:
- Normally, I would turn on my PC and then walk to the kitchen to fix myself a drink and a snack. Once done there, I would go and maybe put in a load of laundry or take out the trash to the bin outside. Finally, I would return to my PC to see that the boot up process was complete. This time, I didn’t do any of that! Once the PC booted up, it was a matter of seconds before descending into Windows 10 ready to rock and roll. I couldn’t believe my eyes!
- SSD Drive:
- This is my first time using an SSD drive as I am accustomed to using basic hard drives either IDE or SATA. My hard drive I was using was a 1 Terabyte 5 year old old drive from WD that has been doing well for my PC. WD Blue SSD drive was pretty easy to install into my PC and has changed my mind on using SSD to basic hard drives. I still kept that hard drive though and became a secondary drive for my computer.
- Application Transfer Speed:
- On my PC, I use a lot of programs while I either edit pictures or articles while having music on the background to keep my mind aligned. There are times I couldn’t use additional programs as it took too much PC usage. With this drive, I had Spotify, Chrome, Adobe, and for giggles, OBS all on the same time. No real lag at all on switching to any of the programs! This drive was able to use multiple applications with such speed.

I usually don’t score a product a perfect score but when you are laid a perfect product at your feet, then do it. The WD Blue SATA SSD 500 GB drive is the best hard drive I have ever used. I have been switching out hard drives for years on multiple PC’s I have owned. I never had a hard drive treat me like a King before! The SSD drive has fast boot up speed, fast application transfer speed and of course this is an SSD. I kept my prior drive and have it as a secondary drive on my pc to hold files and folders. This SSD will run my OS and continue to propel my duties on my PC to the next generation of success.
