A century has passed since the fall of the Edoran Empire at the hands of an unprecedented plague that swept the nation. Now, the land is rife with mercenary work, banditry and thievery, with honor having become an almost entirely forgotten virtue.
Now, prepare to lead a group of unscrupulous characters in a massive open world where combat, death and a thirst for riches will dictate your day to day life. You are not the hero of this story, destined to usher in a new era of peace. Your goal is solely to survive and thrive in this harsh and hostile world, by any means necessary…
We were able to get a Digital review copy of Wartales for my Xbox Series S console. I was able to download the game quite fast as it was only a little bit over 20GB to download. Once downloaded, I was able to sit down and create my characters for the game. Well first, I had to chose what type of game I’m going to playing first in order to get the cast of characters for that adventure. Once that was done, I played the game utilizing the tutorial on each step which has helped me out a lot!
Our Thoughts
Pro:
- Combat
- The combat system reminds me of playing D&D and figuring what each character can use against the opponent. The combat system was easy to learn and utilize throughout the game. I enjoyed having my team win many of those battles. I am glad I was able to upgrade and gain new abilities and weapons for my team as well.
- Medieval
- I’m a bit of a history buff! I love anything with history involved and with Wartales, we are in the Medieval times. I like the idea when I’m traveling in the open world and meet so many people that it all relates to history. I feel like the history books jump out of the pages while playing the game.
Con:
- Takes Time
- The game does take time like hours upon hours, which is ok. I’m down to invest my time in the game, but with that type of open world, it will take time to get through levels.
