On May 21, 2021 emerging Chicago-based recording artist Viv Badynee, aka V!V, will kindly grace our eardrums with the release of her new single “MY NRG”.

Viv wrote “MY NRG” in collaboration with her producer CBVB (who happens to be her dad). He explains, “Viv wanted to make a track that had an early 80s electro-funk vibe blended with a contemporary bedroom pop R&B type thing. For a reference she pointed to Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Big Poppa’ with that brilliant Isley Brothers sample. After spending some time with their 1983 LP ‘Between the Sheets’, I pulled out my trusty Roland JX-8P synth and started working on the instrumental.”

Speaking about “MY NRG,” Viv admits, “I had a solid lyrical concept, but I ran into a little writer’s block. I remedied this by crowd-sourcing some of the lyrics by asking my closest friends, ‘what makes you feel like a bad ass bitch?!’ I got so much amazing baddie inspiration from that!“  And thus a song was born.
