BOSTON, Mass. – The Uprising Academy announced today that damage player Gia Huy “MirroR” Trịnh has been traded to the Los Angeles Gladiators, pending league approval.

MirroR, an 18-year-old player from Vietnam, joined the Uprising Academy prior to Overwatch Contenders Trials for 2019 Season 2. He helped the team qualify for Contenders 2019 Season 2 with a perfect 7-0 record in Trials. The Uprising Academy then achieved a 5-2 regular season record and appeared in the North America East playoffs during Contenders 2019 Season 2. Before joining the Uprising Academy, MirroR played for multiple Contenders teams, including NRG Esports, One.PoinT and Second Wind, proving especially effective on Doomfist, one of his signature heroes.

“We’re thankful for MirroR’s hard work throughout his time with the team,” said Andrew “AndrewKendo” Fiori, General Manager of the Uprising Academy. “He is very deserving of this opportunity, and we hope to see him succeed in the OWL with the Gladiators next season.”

The Uprising Academy are the official academy team of the Boston Uprising competing in Overwatch Contenders. The Boston Uprising look ahead to the 2020 OWL season, as they will return to Boston for two homestand weekends on April 25-26 and June 27-28.
