Twisted Metal Peacock Season 1 Review

I remember as a kid going with my parents to Blockbuster to rent games weekly. There was one game in particular I rented so much that I eventually saved up money to buy it. The game is called Twisted Metal and provided a lot of fun in my childhood. I would eventually get Twisted Metal 2, 3, and 4 included in my collection. The games were hella fun and digged them hard. When I heard Peacock was making a TV show of the game, I was pretty surprised. I didn’t expect much about the show until I saw the first episode. Yes, you will be hooked hard!

The first season of Twisted Metal is streaming now on Peacock at this moment. Yes…all episodes are there! I was able to watch the show in one day of binging and it was amazing. The story is pretty damn good with the introduction of John Doe and his on conquest. We meet a cast of characters such as Quiet and Sweet Tooth which provided icing on the cake in this show. The action was over the top of what you would think would come from the name Twisted Metal. There is a lot of driving, shooting, explosives, and much more! I enjoyed this series quite a bit haha.

Our thoughts

Pro:

  • Story
    • You start off the show learning about John Doe, a delivery driver titled Milkmen, that deliver packages to different cities. The packages ranges from food to amenities these cities require. John gets an opportunity for one final shot at a specific delivery for a lady in San Francisco that can help him become a citizen in that city. John will travel to Chicago and back in order to make that delivery. While John is on his travels, he meets Quiet, a young lady that doesn’t talk much but has a great distaste for the law enforcement including officer named Stone. John and Quiet will head to Chicago together, but on the way, learn more about each of their stories which is heartbreaking in this show. They will meet Sweet Tooth and help him explore is personality into a far reaching world instead of a small spot in Vegas. They will discover how the apocalypse destroyed the world around them and figure out how to stay alive together. Ending is wicked you must see it!
  • Sweet Tooth
    • Sweet Tooth is what I always encompassed who Sweet Tooth should be. A crazy psycho that enjoys laughter and attention from his peers. I felt he was the standout of the show with his acting performance, crazy antics, and wild story. The actor, Joe Seanoa aka Samoa Joe in AEW wrestling, is just fantastic. He does an amazing job embodying the character of Sweet Tooth and his story is just Twisted as he is.
  • Action
    • I didn’t expect Twisted Metal to live up to the action ordeal. I felt they did it quite perfectly throughout the season with the action. There are a lot of explosives in show due to missiles being shot at cars but still had the traditional guns, tomahawks being thrown, and much more. The staff on the show got pretty creative on some of those death scenes which was pretty cool.
