LOS ANGELES – October 13, 2024. This evening at 11:00 pm JST, legendary studio and anime industry leader Toei Animation announced that “One Piece,” the long-running, globally beloved episodic series from creator Eiichiro Oda, will take a break from regular production starting today, Sunday, October 13, following this morning’s release of Episode 1122. Fans can look forward to watching fresh new episodes from the Egghead arc when “One Piece” returns in April 2025 in a new regular time slot that will be revealed at Jump Festa 2025, which takes place on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
In anticipation of this planned production pause and in place of new Egghead arc episodes during the hiatus, Toei Animation has produced new weekly One Piece content for fans to enjoy during the series’ current regular broadcast schedule.
First, on Sunday, October 20 at 9:30 am JST, Toei Animation will present “ONE PIECE FAN LETTER,” a 25th anniversary episode commemorating “One Piece.” This 30-minute ensemble drama depicts the reunon of the Straw Hats crew from the perspective of non-pirate characters. Set in the Sabaody Archipelago after the Paramount War, the story follows its protagonist, a young girl and admirer of Nami, as she sets off on a small adventure.
Next, Toei Animation will present the “One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga” starting on Sunday, October 27 at 9:30 am JST with Episode 1. New episodes will be released weekly on the same day and time with the final episode airing on Sunday, March 30 at 9:30 am JST. “One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga” is a special re-edited version of the original Fish-Man Island arc from the “One Piece” episodic series that was released between 2011-2012. It is an abridged 21-episode story arc with all scenes re-shot plus new animation sequences, including opening and ending themes—featuring a contemporary visual style and recorded in Dolby Atmos, the highest quality sound. The new opening theme, “We Go!” sung by Kitadani Hiroshi, will be performed in collaboration with special guests. The new ending theme is “Sailing” (Episodic version) sung by BE:FIRST.
“One Piece” is produced by Toei Animation and based on the best-selling manga created by Eiichiro Oda. This iconic episodic series follows pirate Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew on their epic quest to find “One Piece,” the legendary treasure of Gol D. Rogers, former King of the Pirates. Now 25 years since its Japanese TV premiere in 1999, “One Piece” has taken its place in mainstream pop culture—attracting millions of fans of all ages and around the world. Today, the franchise has grown to encompass 15 feature films, numerous video games, a trading card game and a ever-expanding catalog of licensed merchandise and location-based entertainment.
