The R Train x Drop the Spotlight Q&A

The R Train Band are a kickass band that are producing some good music for fans all around the world. Their latest new song is a cover called Dear Mr. Fantasy which I have to say their version is better than the original. We sat down with vocalist/guitarist Jeffrey Black of The R Train Band to talk a bit about their musical inspiration, heroes and of course advice for fans wanting to become musicians.

Here is the interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your Surroundings?

The inspiration is observation of daily life! We see what is going on around us and comment on its effect on our collective psyche.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

All forms of rock, particularly the more melodic and groove-oriented formats.

Is there someone you looked up to as a hero?

Not at the time, but in hindsight I realize that it was my Dad, who died when I was a late teen. Now I finally understand the things he told me and realize that he was right.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

Write and play and sing from the heart. Sincerity is the soul of music.
