I was able to sit down and finish the latest season of The Boys on Prime Video. I have to say I was quite disappointed on the ending of the latest episode. They are setting up things for Season 5, which I understand, but it was so topsy, it just didn’t flow well. The lack of story for many of the characters and changing their characteristic’s was horrible. They messed up the storyline of Kimko and Frenchie, adding worthless filler, which made their kiss scene not so powerful that it should have been in the show.
Kessler’s role in the show is fantastic! He kept Butcher alive and helped him push forward his original agenda of destroying all supes. He kept reminding him of why he started The Boys even when Butcher was at his lowest. Firecracker is just amazing! She is the glue that is holding what is left of the seven and added more flair to the show with her character.
Other than that, very boring season and just didn’t have The Boys vibe of past seasons. I hope season 5 will provide something more meaningful and fun to watch.
My Thoughts
Pro:
- Kessler
- Amazing character that adds more depth to Butcher. Your able to see how Kessler holds up Butcher and unveils his power later in the episode.
- Firecracker
- She provided a fun experience for the seven and Homelander with her antics and persona. I found her very engaging that helped save this season of The Boys!
- A-Train
- The redemption of A-Train was well done in this season! He finally become the superhero he always wanted to be and saved MM in a situation.
Con:
- Lack of Story / Loose Ends
- Frenchie with Colin and then Colin leaves Frenchie over past drama that didn’t matter in the story and Kimko’s past came back again like in Season 2. I was so disappointed how they didn’t utilize those connections into something more yet they disappeared faster than the milk in Homelander’s cup. This season showed the lack of story in The Boys and with so many lost loose ends, it just didn’t flow right.
- Tek-Knight
- Ruined his character with the racism and could have used him more this season in the way he was used in Gen V as a detective.
- Neuman
- She shouldn’t have been killed in the last episode and showing her daughter going to that group home was horrible. She should have been put into CIA protective custody like they were originally doing it or with Stan Edgar and have him groom her into a powerful person. What a waste of a scene and story!
