The Acid King Film Review

The Acid King is a documentary film by Dan Jones and Jesse P. Pollack on the story of Ricky Casso. A deep dive into the life and story of Ricky Casso and the murder he committed back in the mid-’80s. The murder came at the start of the “Satanic Panic” of the early 1980s fueling this killing with a ton of media misinformation.

The Deep look into Ricky’s life and the first had stories of his life from friends and those who knew him. Sheds new light on the real story of the killing of Gary Lauwers. Ricky’s tragic life and his life on the streets and as a young teen mixed with heavy drug use. Made for a rough life and the first-hand stories paint the life of Ricky.

A great documentary for fans of true crime and well those who followed the case. The stores the people who knew them gives a real look into the case and life of them both. You see how the media really pushed the “Satanic” angle in the coverage. I give this one a 7.5 out of 10 for a first-hand look at life and the way of life in that era. The case also was the inspiration for some short films and more. So fans of true crime will really enjoy the deep dive into the case. Give this one a watch out on November 9th on demand.
