Still Just a Pop Punk Kid: So What?! Music Festival

Pop punk kids it’s time to bust out the checkerboard Vans or Chucks, skinny jean cut-offs and crack open that can of Monster, it’s time to re-live your hot Warped Tour summer days at So What?! Music Festival this weekend (June 1 and June 2).

I grew up in the peak pop-punk/emo scene which means I spent my fair share of summers nearly passing out in the pit at Warped Tour. When the lineup dropped earlier this year, I was most excited to see Saosin with Cove playing their entire self-titled album. From the entire lineup, this is one band I have yet to see live. Headlining Saturday night is Underoath playing the whole of their 2004 album “They’re Only Chasing Safety.” Closing out the weekend is Skillet.

Chasing nostalgia is in and this year’s concert lineup isn’t one to miss. Since 2008, Third String Productions has been bringing fans to the Dallas Metroplex area every summer.

This year’s lineup offers a good mix of newer alternative/pop-punk bands and some of our favorites from the early 2000s like Underoath, Boys Like Girls, Mayday Parade and Saosin.
