Steamworld Build Xbox Series S Review

Break ground on a new frontier as the planet dies around you! Dig deep and build wide to excavate long-lost spacefaring technology, while ensuring everyone has the vital water, fuel and creature comforts they need! Do you have what it takes to reach the final frontier?

We were able to download Steamworld Build on our Xbox Series S. I have the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, so the game was free to download and play. I was pretty interested in trying out Steamworld Build from various posts on Twitter from content creators. I was like, sure lets jump into the rabbit hold.

Our Thoughts

Pro:

  • Animations
    • I liked how the buildings had their own animations which looked pretty cool. I enjoyed how you can zoom in during game play to see things moving around in the city. I enjoy that as you know the city your building is very much alive and moving around.
  • Easy to Learn
    • With other games that had tutorials during the game, I would take time to learn and eventually go back to the tutorials. Steamworld Build is very easy to learn and picked the controls in a matter of minutes. I enjoyed that as the controls are simple and straight to the point.

Con:

  • Boring Quite Fast
    • After about an hour of gameplay, I got bored. I enjoyed building items around my cit and switching to the mines, but I got pretty bored. I think there should have been more lore of the story added to keep my interest.

Rating: 7 out of 10
