Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Paramount Plus Review

Star Trek Picard season 2 is streaming now on Paramount Plus! Once I was done with Season 1, I dove right into Season 2. With season 2, Picard is having trouble with his past from what had happened with his mother. He believed his father drove her crazy, but their are parts of his memory that he keeps silent about. While he is complementing on what had happened, Q makes a surprise return to the show. He takes Picard to an alternate future of what Picard could be capable of doing and its pretty bad. Picard and his team figure things out and get together to escape that future. They are accompanied by a Borg Queen that is less than stellar of what they want to accomplish but helps them get to the past to try and figure things out.

Loved this season! Season 2 provided more glimpses into Picard and his personal past as he is guided by what happened to him as a child. We learn the truth of his mother, who is father really is, and gets a bit of help from someone from his past who knows about time travel. Rios was outstanding in his season and Agnes grew on me a bit more than usual. The part of Elnor and what had happened to him was crushing but it was needed this season.

Our thoughts:

Pro:

  • Story
    • The return of Q!!!! Q takes Picard and his time into a different alternate future where they have done vile things that impact the galaxy around them. Once Picard and his team figure out what happen, they have to work with the captured Borg queen to travel to the past to stop Q from changing their future.
  • Time Travel
    • I truly enjoy shows involving Time Travel and with season 2 of Picard, it was done very well. You watch as they journey into the past where the team are placed into various places. I like where it took Rios, even though he got hurt, he met that doctor and she was infatuated with him. He tries his best to hide the future from her, but he was so taken by her and her son that he gives them a glimpse. Does it alternate the future? Possibly, but looks like a positive way though.
  • Seven of Nine
    • This season, Jeri Ryan has taken the role of Seven of Nine to another level. She brings so much more into that role that fascinates my mind of how much more Seven of Nine could be. When she woke up as the President and just figured things on the fly was just amazing. She took control of the situation and OWNED IT! I was shocked on well she did it and made Seven of Nine into another level.
