SOFI TUKKER have shared their stirring rendition of “What a Wonderful World” which appears on Apple Music’s exclusive holiday collection ‘Carols Covered’ playlist which will be available in spatial audio. The group’s re-imagination of the Louis Armstrong classic underscores the song’s balance of melancholy and hope with a stark arrangement that highlights the heartbreakingly vulnerable vocal from Sophie.
Apple Music’s second annual Carols Covered holiday covers playlist will launch with 15 songs November 19th, and then an additional 10 from artists around the world. Along with SOFI TUKKER, this year’s playlist features Ari Lennox, Eden Prince x Karen Harding, Eslabon Armando, Gabby Barrett, Griff, IDK, Jay Wheeler, Joy Oladokun, Karen Harding, Shenseea, Tai Verdes, Tate McRae, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tauren Wells, Wolf Alice, and international artists Angus & Julia Stone, Barbara Pravi, Danna Paola, Dermot Kennedy, Esther Graf, JP Saxe, Omah Lay, Tia Ray, Urakami Souki, and Zivert f. LYRIQ.
SOFI TUKKER and Chicago phenom John Summit’s collaborative single “Sun Came Up” has reached #1 at US dance radio this week. This marks the group’s third #1 on Billboard’s Dance Airplay chart following “Best Friend” and “House Arrest”. They recently also released Claptone’s remix of the song. SOFI TUKKER’s world-centric brand of dance music has always been about bringing people together, and “Sun Came Up” exemplifies this with its intricate Spanish guitar work, made complete by Sophie’s breathy and ascendant vocals.
