Sinister bean-smiths Concept Cafes is returning for their third time at the popular fan-fav horror con; this time as one of the main sponsors. This year they’re premiering a trilogy of craft coffee terrors: the institution of horror streaming, one of the biggest Metal artists on the planet, & an iconic legendary tattoo artist. Special guests at Spooky Empire this year include Clive Barker, Lili Taylor, Doug Jones, & most of the original Cenobites from legendary horror franchise Hellraiser.
This year’s event will be hosted by the Orange County Convention Center and run from Friday, November 1 – Sunday, November 3. In addition to a who’s who of legendary horror guests, the convention features close to 200 vendors, 70 featured tattoo artists, live entertainment, panels, cosplay, & much much more…and of course enough coffee to keep you on the edge of your seat!
“Spooky is really where we cut our con teeth, launching Cannibal Corpse’s ‘Beheading & Brewing’ back in ’22. Actually, remember the first bag of ‘B&B’ we sold distinctly… It was a Brit who was rushing past our booth on his way back home to the UK later that day, whom had to do a double take once he saw the Cannibal Corpse logo hanging over Vince’s disemboweled/decapitated drinking zombie on a coffee bag. He was like, ‘Holy Sh#t man…gotta get this for my mate!’ LOL We were instantly hooked! The Spooky team is absolutely amazing, the guests are always awesome, but it’s the loyal horror fans that show up each and every year (in new costume of course), and tell us all about which coffee they picked up last year, and are like, ‘whadya got for me this year?!’. SHUDDER (AMC): If you’re going to partner with a horror institution like Shudder who has millions of subscribers, you better not disappoint, and Concepts & their sister co. Coterie Coffee Co. has taken both roasting & packaging deep into new uncharted territory. Head Roaster Charlene Blanchard wanted to naturally recreate a cinematic snack bar experience for the roasting profile of which she has pulled off flawlessly. They’ve added the tactile to the repertoire of prodigious design tricks by incorporating custom Shudder remote controls into the packaging (*batteries included). Their instinctual knack for storytelling and letting the fans really choose their own ending is undeniably one of their trademarks. Shudder’s official coffee will be on display & sold throughout the weekend with any & all grind preferences.
ICE NINE KILLS: Both the INK & Concepts camps have kept this monumental coffee releases under wraps the entire time, waiting for the perfect timing to unveil to both music & horror fans around the globe alike. Working with INK creative director Mike Cortada, the camps have put together ‘Sip To be Scared’ a special signature blend hatched by Spencer Charnas himself. A continuation from their critically-acclaimed ‘Welcome to Horrorwood’ LP and monstrous tours opening for Metallica around the world, ‘Sipped to Be Scared’ will leave the Psychos caffeine-crazed. INK’s official brew will be available throughout the weekend & featured on the mainstage on Saturday.
PAUL BOOTH: When you’re really into Metal & Horror and want to create a tattoo coffee to for the hundreds of millions in the tattoo legion, who else do you partner w/ besides the Dark Master himself: Paul Booth. The legendary ink artist, whom has tattooed the who’s who of the Metal world, has extremely high expectations when it comes to his art, so why would his coffee be anything else besides pure perfection. With just one whiff of his intoxicating roast, you will be inking away your soul immediately to sup from the Devil’s chalice. All of the signature artwork & packaging design was created by Paul himself, & you can’t get this coffee anywhere else, because, well, he’s the only one who knows where it comes from. ‘Devil’s Pact’ will premiere Friday & be available throughout the duration of the convention, and we promise you, you will can’t just buy one, but many.
