Mumbai, India – Rising international artist Shriya captures the essence of heartbreak in her brand new single, “Her,” the latest song off her upcoming EP, dropping later this year. The track, now available on all streaming platforms, delves into the deep emotions and complex feelings of heartache and trust, expressing the universal pain of betrayal.
Shriya’s latest release showcases her soulful and smooth melodies, accompanied by somber piano chords and emotionally raw lyrics. Written at only 16 years old, Shriya crafted “Her” to heal from the shattered trust following her first experience with a broken heart. “In life, we’ve all experienced someone we love, breaking our trust in different ways,” says Shriya about the inspiration behind the song. “Whether it’s as a child when your mom lied to you about buying you candy, or in a relationship when you find out about your partner’s infidelity, similar to in this song.” Through poignant lyrics that channel her pain, like “Waiting and waiting for you to call me, and waiting and waiting for you to hold me,” Shriya expresses the gut-wrenching feeling of when you know deep down your partner is being unfaithful, “I’m not the one on your mind.” “Her” was produced by Yohan Marshall, mixed by Pedro Peixoto, and mastered by Fili Filizzola (Doja Cat, SZA, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber).
At just 18 years old, singer/songwriter Shriya is making waves in the pop and R&B scene with her vibrant and innovative sound. She effortlessly combines jazz elements with R&B and soul to create unforgettable melodies, lush harmonies, and deeply resonant lyrics. Bursting onto the scene at just 14 with her debut single “Tell Me,” Shriya has since performed at over 50 live venues, developing a rich and diverse musical style influenced by jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Antônio Carlos Jobim, as well as contemporary artists like Daniel Caesar, Summer Walker, and Erykah Badu. Her genre-blending approach has earned her a spot on Spotify’s Fresh Finds India editorial playlist, and she has also lent her voice to ads for top brands like Nykaa Fashion, Tang, and Lenskart. At 17, she signed with Sony Music’s sublabel, DayOne, releasing two tracks, “Ride for Me” and “On My Mind,” which collectively garnered over 180,000 views on YouTube, with “On My Mind” alone amassing over 50,000 streams on Spotify.
