Filling her rich soundscapes with intimate experiences, LA based artist SARAS uses music as a means to navigate her life. Inspired by unrequited love, self-discovery and desire, her latest release “Whiplash” explores the difficulties and setbacks of romantic relationships.

“Whiplash” is an infectious slice of bubblegum pop from SARAS, shimmering with vibrant synth patterns and bursts of electronica. The accompanying visuals run like a home movie, documenting her heartbreak and uncertainty as she navigates her way through the arid landscape.

“‘Whiplash’ is about the confusion of wanting someone who doesn’t know what they want and the pain of trying to cope with their changing mind and drastic mood changes”, SARAS explains. “This song is about something really specific in my life but it’s also really relatable because often when the ground underneath our feet falls away, we’re all just expected to keep on walking. How? I wrote this song two years ago with a friend after a really tough breakup. It was a long night but it taught me a lot about how love should, and shouldn’t, feel.”

Attending 14 schools that crossed state lines and international waters, SARAS’s life has been shaped by her global upbringing. Inspired by this freedom, her music is a rich tapestry of artistic influences – growing up on pop icons such as Spice Girls, Billy Joel, and Lady Gaga as well as an eclectic range of Broadway shows. Finding solace and companionship in storytelling from a young age, SARAS continues to share her life through this artform – writing music a means to connect and inspire.
