Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland Xbox Series S Review

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland Xbox Series S Review

We were given a digital code to review the new game Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland. I remember watching the TV show Rugrats as a kid and enjoyed the show believing babies know best than adults. I can relate more to the parents of the show as I have children of my own. Now, reading more into the new Rugrats game, the developer made this game work on everything including a NES version that is sold out at the moment.

I was able to download Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland to my Xbox Series S console. Once downloaded, I had an error connecting to the network, but I realized since I got it early, I can’t play on the network but from using offline mode. Once I got it on offline mode, I was able to start off the game and watch the Rugrats take on a new adventure. Your able to start the game off either picking Tommy, Chuckie, Phil or Lil as your main character. You must go and collect Reptar coins to be able to access the new Reptar game that the group is fascinated with.  You got through levels trying to avoid things like a water hose shooting stuff at you, jumping on certain spots, and more. I had a lot of fun during the game, but I was challenged at time for their unique puzzles. Either way, a fun game for the family!

Gameplay:

Pro:

  • Characters
    • Your able to choose between Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil to use during the game. I thought this was cool because usually you would be Tommy but having the opportunity to choose other characters is fun as well.
  • Retro
    • I know Rugrats is an old school cartoon and wouldn’t think of it as retro, but the way the designers made the game very retro. The cut scenes, levels, artwork, etc. has a retro feel that you feel like your on an NES or SNES. I enjoyed what they have done in that aspect to the game and made it feel it relates to all ages.

Con:

  • Can Be Challenging
    • There are certain puzzle like situations you would need to solve, not major puzzles, but things you wouldn’t think of. For example, one of them was stacking blocks in a certain order to jump to the next obstacle. I didn’t realize that and thought I had to jump for a certain distance.

Rating: 8 out of 10
