Free online portal shooter Splitgate launches on July 27 after undergoing a massive overhaul, but fans can jump in today on PC and consoles for free as an open beta is live now.

Featuring cross-play and cross-gen gameplay on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, fans are able to get a sneak peek at what awaits them later this month as they squad up, drop in, and start fragging. The totally free Splitgate beta includes a sneak peek at one of the new maps coming at launch on July 27, a limited-time beta battle pass with 10 free tiers of unlockables available to earn only during beta, a new gamemode called Showdown, and more. Fans are able to hone in on their skills ahead of launch and gear up for the only game to offer competitive and fast-paced multiplayer gameplay with the totally unique twist of player-controlled portals.

With grindable challenges, leaderboards, and over a dozen casual and competitive game modes, Splitgate launches later this month with more than 20 maps, each with its own unique setting and play style. The maps include a research facility inside an active volcano, an underwater luxury hotel, an alien crash site, a futuristic treehouse, an abandoned mine, and much more. Each map has its own look and feel and plays differently, rewarding players for adapting their tactics in the fast-paced, portal-filled combat that only Splitgate offers.
