Nuevo Elemento, Regional Mexican music’s first boyband, today releases a fresh remake of Banda El Recodo’s 2003 hit “Cómo Pude Estar Tan Ciego” (How Could I Be So Blind).
Maintaining the strong emotions and ranchera essence of the original, the members of Nuevo Elemento reinvent “Cómo Pude Estar Tan Ciego” with mariachi elements. This single is accompanied by a lyric video.
In a statement, Nuevo Elemento underscored its admiration of the original recording: “We consider it a serious undertaking to interpret a song that’s associated with an institution as important as Banda El Recodo. We feel very fortunate and pleased. We recorded this cover with immense goodwill and respect.”
“Cómo Pude Estar Tan Ciego” is the third single from Nuevo Elemento’s upcoming EP, scheduled for release late this year. Previous single “Mía”, a gorgeous ranchera ballad released in July, has surpassed 1 million views on YouTube.

“Mía” was the group’s first release since new member Alejandro “Bebo” Garfias joined. This lineup made its first public appearance recently on Univisión’s morning news-talk program Despierta América.
In spite of the members’ youth, Nuevo Elemento continues to rapidly garner respect and admiration from Regional Mexican music-lovers. The group’s debut single, “No Andes con Nadie” (Don’t Go Out With Anyone), reached the Top 35 of the Billboard “Regional Mexican Airplay” chart and earned the group two nominations at the 2021 Premios Juventud (Youth Awards).
Nuevo Elemento is scheduled to perform September 12 in Los Angeles and Ontario, Calif., as part of Estrella Media’s Festival Fiestas Patrias celebrations for Mexican Independence Day. The all-star musical lineup also includes Joss Favela, Banda Los Recoditos, Edith Márquez, Luis Coronel, and Río Roma among others.
Comprising members Hector Osobampo, Danny Rea, Yahir “Choco” Garduño, and Alejandro “Bebo” Garfias, Nuevo Elemento is stacked with talent and promises to dazzle Regional Mexican fans in the months and years to come. While the guys come from different regions, they are united by their passion for music.
