Night Sky Prime Video First Season Review

Night Sky is a new series on Prime Video that will have you rethink everything you knew about science fiction. Oh yes! I said that! You will think I’m crazy and need a good punch in the shoulder but hear me out…! First, I was told by multiple critics that I had to see this show as it would peak my interest.  Secondly, as a big sci fi nerd, I took the plunge and binge this show on a fateful Saturday where I just ate pancakes with bacon at home. Lastly, The story progressed slowly but it did peak my interest after each episode showcased a new concept for science fiction. With those reveals, I couldn’t stop watching! I had to know what happened next with Franklin and Irene in their quest to find the spot in their hearts that they sorely needed saving. The love of Franklin and Irene is just so interesting as though you were watching your own parents interact with each other as elderly people. Once I progressed through each episode, I saw more and more how it gave a new creative approach for sci fi in today’s society. The additional mix with a character that they found on other planet and engulfing him into their own home life was just intoxicating.

I won’t reveal much more but you have to check this show out! I know at times it can be slow in the story telling but with each episode reveal in the story just outweighs your own excitement!

Here is our review

Pro:

  • Original Idea
    • I felt this show took a concept that has been done a million times with the sci fi origins and shattered that into pieces. The new concept felt so original and so unique. I couldn’t stop watching as I wanted to know more about the travels of Franklin and Irene as well as how Jude will unveil the truths that they need ot hear. Very exciting!
  • Love
    • The love of Franklin and Irene was just so powerful throughout the episodes! I was shocked on what each would do for each other to make sure they were continuing to be alive and well. They were each other’s strongman in order to survive any situation. The moment where Franklin was telling how much he loved Irene to Byron in the pool scene just echoed on how much love they give each other.
  • To The Stars
    • The concept and story of the room that transport you to a different place is pretty damn cool. With the story starting off with Irene and Franklin, I thought the transported just took them to the planet. With the addition of Stella to the story and the inclusion of what they believed the transporter is and how they took care of the others for hundreds of years is astonishing.

Con:

  • Slow Story
    • My only gripe is how the story is stretched across each episode that at times made it hard to follow. There were times that I just went on my cellphone to check email messages while certain parts did bore me. I felt the story telling was focusing on certain parts but other parts would have benefited for more enhanced dialogue.

Rating: 9 out of 10
