Fresh to the scene, Nicolette Marie just released her debut single “Love Like This”. When she isn’t studying for her degree at Nashville’s very own Belmont University, this young singer is pouring her soul into lyrics that are dripping with authenticity. Nicolette is launching her career with a single that perfectly encapsulates the journey of learning how you should be loved.
When asked for her inspiration behind this tune the singer shared, “This single is such a special song to me. I was never treated the right way and then I finally met the right person and even when we are long distance he treats me “right” and his actions inspired me to write this song.”
The song opens with a soft piano melody accompanied by the powerful sounds of a synth. Nicolette’s silky voice comes in with the opening verse “You fixed a heart you didn’t break / You showed love others couldn’t before / You carried her when she fell down / You’re the one she’s been waiting for.” With the skillful layering of harmonies and the gentle instrumentals, this song carries you to another realm where you can almost feel the inner healing that Nicolette experienced.
Moving past the healing she has accomplished, Nicolette continues to sing about the pains of being long distance in the lyrics “Love like this is harder than it looks like / It’s draining but we’ll be alright / I’ll miss you a hundred times / But that look once I see you after a real long time.” These beautifully crafted lyrics remind us to never take things for granted and that it will all be worth it in the end.
Though already immensely talented, Nicolette will continue to evolve and improve as her career progresses. With plans to continue to write, record, and release more songs throughout 2024, it will be interesting to see what she comes up with next.
