NeverAwake Xbox Series X/S Review

NeverAwake is a game where you help your character fight her nightmares in order to help her wake up. Those nightmares are something where the developer’s creativity comes through that focus’s on what children consider nightmares. I was pretty astonished on how fun this game is and how creative the developer is with the game. I didn’t expect the game to feature vegetables and more as nightmares but they are to children at times haha.

We were able to get a review key to try on out on our Xbox Series X/S consoles. I downloaded the game to my Xbox Series S console with such ease. The game didn’t take too much space and on our 4K television, the visuals were pretty damn good.

Our Thoughts

Pro:

  • Story
    • Your character Rem can’t wait up! You just go through her chains and fight to collect 100 percent of souls in order to slowly break those chains. You shoot your way in each level to destroy her wild adaptions of vegetables, food, and much more in order to get her to wake up.
  • Art
    • I enjoyed the unique art in the game! The art reminds of 90’s music videos with those images that tell a story even when no one is talking. The art in this game tell the story of each level even when there isn’t much dialogue to know things. You are instantly transported to use your imagination in this game! I dig this hard!

Con:

  • Shooting Controls
    • I use the R joystick to shoot but at times, I can’t get an accurate shot. I just move around while shooting and pray I’m hitting something. I do know they have an auto aim to help with the shooting, but would like to do more than auto aim.

Rating: 7 out of 10
