Following a brilliant year of collaborations, releasing new music and signing to Universal France’s MCA, alternative singer-songwriter NEEV makes his return with the brilliant This Dream, taken from his upcoming debut album Anne-Marie.
In just one year as an act, NEEV’s gathered quite the collection of accolades. After collaborating with Norwegian electronic trio Seeb, his release ‘Breath’ garnered over 123 million plays on Spotify alone. The legendary Larry Klein then examined NEEV’s first work to take this project to new heights, adding poetic and atmospheric colours. This coming together soon caught the eye of Universal France leading to NEEV signing with MCA.
Using his music as a platform to educate and help bring people together, NEEV finds solace in songwriting and frequently donates his time to music education for those with learning difficulties. More recently, NEEV has started the quest to create a nonprofit organization that provides support for projects that have a social impact.
Speaking more on this, NEEV explained: “For me it’s a sense of mission and purpose that drives me to do this and I am sure it will be a major part of my life and something that I want to really have an impact in my legacy as an artist – as a person. I believe in the ideas, I believe I can help by making them happen, and therefore I must do them.”
This Dreamis an emotional memoir that tells NEEV’s personal story of love and heartbreak. It’s an honest track that touches on different feelings thanNEEV’s previous releases. His timbre and vocal strength empower his songs with grace and spirituality, while his melodies and orchestrations inscribe them with an electro-folk atemporality, much like Ásgeiror, Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens.
Speaking more on This Dream, NEEV explained: “This dream is the song that started the ‘NEEV’ journey. It is the song that shaped and gave me the inspiration for what kind of music I wanted to put out there as an artist. It is intimate, personal, raw in its emotion and honest. It was written over three years while I was in a relationship – by the time I finished the song, the relationship had ended.”
Having already made quite a name for himself over the last year, NEEV now returns with his strongest piece of art to date. With his debut album set to release July 10th, This Dream will be available to enjoy May 1st on all streaming platforms.
