Former EMI artist and 80’s underground disco diva, Nancy Nova, is back with a brand-new album that promises to captivate fans of vintage electro and high-energy techno. Tour De Force, features 16 self-penned tracks, blending new compositions with revamped versions of her iconic singles, plus two standout covers: ‘The Winner Takes It All’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’. All tracks are fresh recordings, staying true to the 80’s electro aesthetic that defined a generation.
The daughter of celebrated TV and radio presenter Bob Holness, Nancy Nova began her career with aspirations in acting, training at the National Youth Theatre and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. However, her passion for music soon took centre stage. Nancy’s career rocketed as a founding member of the group Toto Coelo, known for their worldwide hit I Eat Cannibals, before she embarked on a successful solo journey, signing with EMI in the 1980s.
Nancy’s musical journey began even earlier, with her first chart success in 1976 as a songwriter for Jesse Green’s single Flip which reached No. 26 on the UK charts. Her dynamic career includes performing on Top of the Pops, with Jesse Green and writing songs for Artists as diverse as AC/DC, Cleo Laine and Lena Zavaroni. At the end of the 70s Nancy appeared in Non Stop, a six week TV Series in Italy, singing a track per show, from her Album as well as the shows theme song.
Nancy’s renewed popularity has been fueled by internet fans and shoutouts from fellow artists. Notably, Siouxsie Sioux recently cited Nancy as an influence during an interview on BBC Radio 6, reminiscing about her impactful live performance at London’s Heaven nightclub—an event that also caught the attention of radio legend Kenny Everett.
Reflecting on her new album, Nancy shared, “Having been an 80’s underground disco diva, I’ve noticed a renewed love for this genre. Now is the perfect time to release my never-before-heard album, perfect for lovers of vintage electro. Tour De Force is a celebration of that vibrant era, featuring 16 tracks, including hit singles and fresh interpretations of timeless classics.”
Produced and arranged by Kingbones, Tour De Force, is heavily influenced by European dance styles, with a distinctly British twist. The album offers a rollercoaster of emotions, from the powerful passion of Heavens You Know to the anti-war anthem Lily and the futuristic dystopia of Copy. Each track showcases Nancy’s dramatic lyrics, paired with cutting-edge techno production. Standout tracks include the hauntingly romantic Lifeline, the heart-wrenching You Come And You Go, and the pulsating energy of The Force Megamix and Megasong.
Nancy is thrilled to bring her music to live audiences next summer, with plans to perform tracks from Tour De Force at major festivals. “I can’t wait to connect with fans and celebrate the 80’s electro vibe together. This album is for them—for the ones who have supported me through the years and for the new listeners discovering this timeless genre.”
Nancy Nova’s, Tour De Force, is now available across major streaming platforms and music retailers. Relive the magic of the 80s with a fresh, electrifying twist.
