Musiqal Madness’s top five picks for League of Legends Spring Split (Final 3 Picks!)

I will be reviewing my top five league of legend teams for spring split 2018. if you missed out on team rankings 4th and 5th place you can find them here.  I have reviewed each position, who I think the MVP could be from each team, and a game 1 prediction.  Games begin on Jan. 20th Starting at 5 PM EST.

Top Five:  Cloud 9

Rank:3rd

Cloud 9

Cloud 9 (C9) is one of the best teams in NA LCS.  Last year they were the number 1 team at the end of spring split but ended up falling in the summer to fight for their Worlds dreams.  As one of the qualifier teams, C9 defeated every team they faced until the Worlds group stages. For the last couple of years, they are the only NA team to make it to the knockout stage.  Will this be the year they finally make it as World Champions?

The Starters

C9 never fails to impress with their aggressive style of play that could be elevated by adding Jungler Svenskeren previously from TSM.  Svenskeren is known for his masterful Lee Sin play and his amazing Baron Steals.

If there is a body on the ground, it was probably created by Jensen.  Jensen is the mid lane carry we all want to be when playing solo queue.  He set the record for most kills in a playoff game with 20 kills as Leblanc!

Consistency is key in any game and C9 gets just that with their bot lane Sneaky and Smoothie.  Sneaky is an All-Star AD carry and Smoothie provides huge map control and team presence.   Together they are a force that will give any bot lane trouble.

Last of the starters is a new player expecting to make a debut in the NA LCS.  Licorice is a rookie Top laner with great talent.  We will have to wait and see if he can make an impact in this highly competitive league.

Predictions

I am expecting this team to finish 3rd in the spring split.  They are always a strong team but this season I feel there are two other teams that have the slight edge in winning this split.

Jensen will be in the running for MVP.

Day 1 Win against CLG.

Let’s Talk

Do you expect C9 to be a top team this season?

Can Svenskeren and Licorice make immediate contribution to C9 or will they need time gain team chemistry?

Top Five: Team Solo Mid

Rank:2nd

Team Solo Mid

TSM TSM TSM.  A chant heard even in games in which they aren’t playing.  TSM is easily one of the most popular teams in NA and have a star studded roster to match.  TSM last year was considered one of the best teams in Worlds where Korean teams tend to dominate.  TSM under performed in the group stages and didn’t make it pass WE and Misfits.  Their team might be better than last year and that is extremely difficult to say about a team that had Doublelift in the roster.  With this revamped roster, will they be able to finally reach Worlds Greatness and win a championship?

The Starters

Bjergsen.  His name speaks for itself.  4 Time MVP, All-Star Mid laner , NA Championships and an Esports household name.  He is the highest tenured player for TSM and is looking to have another wonderful year.

Another TSM Top performer is in the Top lane crushing the opposition..  Hauntzer   seems to best the best in top lane.  As a high performer, he is looking to continue his dominance in 2018.

Performance.  Style. MikeYeaung.  Last year’s Rookie of the Year recently acquired by TSM is looking to style on a lot of enemy junglers this season.

Another Talent acquisition for this year is Zven and Mithy.  All they do is win win win.  Every year they win the EU championship and lock in their appearance for Worlds.  This bot lane consistently outperforms the competition.   Now they are set to continue their bot lane reign in NA.

Predictions

Even with this team of ringers I am picking them to finish 2nd in the spring split.  Typically TSM starts off slow and builds up steam mid-season.

MVP Candidates are at every position but this may be a 5th one for Bjergsen.

Game 1 TSM loses to Team Liquid.

Let’s Talk

Is TSM roster a lot better than last year’s roster?

Do you think TSM is the best team in NA?

Who is your favorite TSM Player?

Top Five: Team Liquid

Rank:1st

Team Liquid

Team Liquid is a team that recently acquired stars to put together a highly talented roster.  TL is the only team that can rival Team Solo Mid with star power but actually falls short in the history of winning in at the team level.  Even with that being said, this team is has a full line up of successful power players and will be a play making machine.  History of greatness has to start somewhere right?

The Starters

IF there is a recipe for winning championships is good to start with a championship player.  Impact is a world champion top laner that can absorb pressure or make impossible plays possible.

Another ingredient for winning is leadership.  Xmithie levels up his teammates from the jungle turning good teams into powerhouse contenders.

Have a taste for carry? Add a little Pobelter who has dominated in the mid lane and helped carry his previous team to Worlds.

Take a pinch of playmaking in the bot lane.  Olleh is a support that can have a “wow!” moment at any point in the game.  He can set his team up to gain advantages throughout the game.

Final Ingredients are all linked to the ADC of TL.  DoubleLift brings confidence, attitude, motivation, and pain.  Most champions have gone through adversity and DoubleLift’s story is full of it this season. Falling short in group stage with a team expected to be top 4.  The pain of discovering you are no longer on your team from the internet.  Years of NA being outshined by other regions.  His confidence in his ability is unshakable.  He only wants to beat the best at their best because he is the best. Everyone else is trash.

Prediction

Team Liquid will be the best team in spring split.  I have them at 1st place at the end of the season.

MVP DoubleLift.

The first game will be a Win against TSM.

Let’s Talk

Does team Liquid have what it takes to be the best this season?
