MIAMI (Dec. 19, 2024) – On the anniversary of the release of their hit “Bebe Dame,” acclaimed música Mexicana groups Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera reunite on new collaboration “MALA MÍA.” The five-track EP powerfully explores the complexities of love, desire and heartbreak, navigating the tension between passion and self-doubt, the pull of toxic relationships and the painful journey of self-realization and emotional growth. “MALA MÍA” is now available on streaming platforms.
Fuerza Regia and Grupo Frontera’s “MALA MÍA” EP Tracklist:
1. ME JALO
2. SOS
3. COQUETA
4. 0 SENTIMIENTOS
5. AURORA ft. Oscar Maydon, Armenta
Seamless traversing between Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera‘s signature styles, the EP opens with “ME JALO,” which delivers a raw and catchy narrative of a tumultuous love affair, detailing a complicated, late-night entanglement with a woman who keeps her lover in the shadows. With its diverse rhythm and playful yet honest lyrics, the song explores the seductive pull of forbidden attraction and the emotional toll of being the “other” in a love triangle. “SOS” and “Coqueta” both explore the complexity of intense, passionate relationships that blur the line between love and lust. While “SOS” captures the urgency and excitement of reconnecting with a lost love who craves the thrill, “Coqueta” reflects a more introspective longing for a fleeting affair, describing the wistful yearning for a second chance to rekindle.
“0 Sentimientos” conveys an emotionally charged story of heartbreak and betrayal, contemplating the personal investment in a relationship that was never genuinely reciprocated. The track expresses the numbness that follows deception, transforming the pain of unrequited love into a powerful statement of self-preservation. “Aurora” closes the EP with a stark, confessional tone. The final track grapples with the painful realization that despite all the love and sacrifices, the relationship was ultimately toxic, leaving one drowning in regret and self-doubt. Capturing the emotional aftermath of a broken heart, “Aurora” encourages listeners to confront their own destructive behaviors and ponder the emptiness left behind by someone who was never truly worth the cost.
Produced by multiple Latin GRAMMY winner Edgar Barrera, alongside Miguel Armenta, Grupo Frontera, Jesus Ortiz Paz, and Moises Lopez, “Mala Mía” was recorded in Fuerza Regida’s hometown studio in California and was created for the fans who have been waiting for the two groups to reunite.
Fuerza Regida, one of the most influential groups in música mexicana, blends traditional corridos with modern hip-hop, Latin, and dance influences. Since forming in 2015, the band—featuring Jesús Ortiz Paz (JOP), José “Pelón” García, Moisés López, Khrystian Ramos, and Samuel Jáimez—has gained over 13 million followers on social media, 35 million monthly Spotify listeners and 26 billion streams. With hit albums like Pa Que Hablen and Sigan Hablando, they’ve earned major accolades, including Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year (Group) and Latin Billboard awards. Their breakthrough came in 2018 with “Radicamos en South Central,” followed by chart-topping albums like Pa Las Baby’s and Belikeada, as well as collaborations like “Bebe Dame” with Grupo Frontera, which reached No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. By 2024, they had three albums in Billboard’s Top 10 and held the No. 1 spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart for seven consecutive weeks with “Tu Boda.” They made history this year by winning the Billboard Music Awards’ Top Artist Duo/Group for the second consecutive year, standing out as 2024’s only Latin finalists and winners in the category. Recognized as “transgressors in the música mexicana space” by Billboard and “the hardest-working act in música mexicana” by the Los Angeles Times, Fuerza Regida continues to lead the genre’s global movement, pushing its boundaries with each new project.
Since their meteoric rise to fame, Grupo Frontera has consistently delivered chart-topping hits, securing prominent positions across various charts such as Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs, Regional Mexican Airplay, Latin Airplay, and Spotify Global Top 200, among others. Following the release of their debut album, El Comienzo, which amassed an impressive 2.8 billion streams in under a year, the group has achieved numerous career milestones. They made history as the first Mexican artists featured on the cover of THE FADER Magazine and have appeared on high-profile talk shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live and Good Morning America. Their sophomore album, Jugando A Que No Pasa Nada, released in May, features powerful collaborations with contemporary luminaries Christian Nodal, Maluma, Morat and Nicki Nicole. The album made a significant impact, debuting on four Billboard charts: No. 6 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart, No. 10 on the Top Latin Albums chart, No. 36 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 198 on the Billboard 200. Further solidifying their status as icons in the industry this year, the band scored seven Latin Billboard nominations including Regional Mexican Album of the Year and Top Latin Album of the Year for their freshman album El Comienzo as well as their first-ever Latin GRAMMY win for Best Norteño Album/Mejor Álbum de Música Norteña for El Comienzo.
