Hip hop legend Jurassic 5’s Soup aka Fullee Love is to perform at SXSW USA on The British Music Embassy stage and the BLENDID Experience official showcase presented by BLENDID Media & Artists. Joining him on the line up will be World Champion Beatbox group ‘The Beatbox Collective’ from the UK and Grand Beatbox Battle Champions group ‘The Beatbox House’ from USA.

Soup aka Fullee Love from Los Angeles, USA will be performing with The Beatbox Collective (London, UK) and The Beatbox House (New York, USA) bringing together a gold selling hip hop legend and the worlds two leading powerhouse beatbox groups. SXSW will mark a world first of these two world champion beatbox groups coming together to perform as one, an occasion which has been long awaited by the music industry and worldwide beatbox community. The set is formed of an exciting fusion of these USA and UK artists with original songs, covers delivered in a fresh new ways, and of course all Jurassic 5’s top hits.

Jurassic 5’s Soup aka Fullee Love is a gold selling artist from legendary USA hip hop group Jurassic 5 with hits such as What’s Golden and Concrete Schoolyard. Soup is credited as defining Jurassic 5’s harmonization and infectious hooks, and was key in obtaining Jurassic 5’s initial demo dea. Soup also played a key role in securing record deals for Mobb Deep, contributed to the production of acclaimed albums such as Wu-Tang Clan’s “Enter the Wu-Tang” and Mobb Deep’s “The Infamous”. Soup’s song ‘Jayou’ with Jurassic 5 is the track featured in the current Kellogg’s UK TV advert campaign (also rolling out in Europe later this year).

The Beatbox Collective from London, UK have been dubbed “the new rockstars of the music world” by BBC World News after going viral on the BBC. This superhuman group have collectively won nearly every beatbox competition on the planet, taught over 1 million people how to beatbox through Young Voices arena tours, alongside many notable accolades from TED X talks, to their self written and produced, multiple 5 star awarded Edinburgh Fringe show “What’s Your Sound?

Based out of New York City, The Beatbox House is a collective of World champion Beatboxers and cultural ambassadors, hailing from different regions of the USA, The Beatbox House looks to push the boundaries of what is possible with the human voice and push the limits of what is possible.

Jurassic 5’s Soup comments: “I’m really excited to be performing at this years SXSW, it’s been such a long time since I’ve been. I’m so looking forward to working with THIS particular outfit of musicians. And not only that, actually watch them do their thing, because of the love that I have for the art form in itself. Making such a long distance connection (across the pond) as they say, just gives total affirmation on music being universal and colorless. I’m wit it!!”

Rupert Oldridge (BASS6) from The Beatbox Collective adds: “we’re still buzzing from SXSW 2024 after performing the most official shows and collaborations at a SXSW to date! To come back and develop the connections, ideas and collaborations we made is so exciting. We want to demonstrate our range and ability with all formats of collaborations once more as well as this year we have been given the opportunity to create music with our USA counterparts The Beatbox House, to show how we are greater together with these unique talents, sounds and styles of beatboxing.

Collaborations like this get talked about for decades, so to physically have the two vocal supergroups writing and rehearsing music together is the dream made possible by SXSW. A bridge of two nations with artists at the peak of their performance careers, we’re excited not just to work together as The Beatbox Collective and The Beatbox House, but also to invite some musicians to try something new with us and show the versatility of the voice and instruments combined. Both shows we’re doing are totally different, but also not what you’d expect!

And on working with Soup from Jurassic 5 “you don’t get asked if you would like to collaborate with a legendary artist much in this life! When you do it only happens to be one you have listened to through your formative years, sneaked into their concerts (twice)! and of course rattled out many of their beats from playing their records in the bedroom to beatboxing their grooves on stage. The connection of The Beatbox Collective’s musical influences and where beatboxing sits within hip hop ties this collaboration together naturally, but also looking at the style of shows J5 have performed, it fits and gives a new lease of life to some absolute classics. We’re’ all excited to just lay a beat for Soup, and with this excitement create some music worthy of an iconic vocalist. We’re aiming to put on a top show with USA and UK coming together to create one of the greatest beatbox and MC fusion performances for the history books. It’s time to take it back to concrete streets. All that is needed here is the voice”.

All will be performing Sunday 9th March on SXSW’s The British Music Embassy Stage (BME) in support of the GREAT Campaign ‘Greater Together’ event at Palm Door, which will be hosted by BLENDID Artists and BASS6 of The Beatbox Collective, and also on Monday 10th March at The BLENDID Experience Official SXSW showcase at Elysium.

The BLENDID Experience Official SXSW Showcase event is to establish as SXSW’s home of vocal arts, beatboxing, turntablism and the most unexpected and unique collaborations. Featuring live performance collaborations from hip-hop to classical to funk and dance. This night will also feature a special performance from Jurassic 5’s Soup aka Fullee Love, showcases by World Beatbox Champions The Beatbox Collective, Grand Beatbox Battle Champions The Beatbox House, world renowned loop artist ThePetebox, acclaimed vocal arts and electro duo ‘Spiderhorse’, UK Beatbox Champion Bass Ventura, 4 x World DMC DJ Champion Mr Switch, hip hop violinist Kimberly Zielnicki, Goldies Award DJ Champion Buck Rogers with Austin freestyle rapper Zeale, and Austin DMC DJ Champion Dopez.

Gina Akers Founder of BLENDID Artists & Presenter of The BLENDID Experience showcase comments: I am ecstatic to be presenting a whole new showcase at SXSW. I just wanted to give the artists an official platform at SXSW to demonstrate their world level skills in beatboxing and turntablism and bring more attention to these music disciplines. We’ve gained a reputation as leaders in the best collaborations and our own showcase means we can really develop our collaboration ideas, create amazing synergies and those totally unexpected moments we’ve become known for.  It’s super exciting”
