Music is such a powerful tool that encapsulates a listener to another stage of life through the sounds in those headphones. Prince is a musician that gave listeners the proper imagination of how to see his music. With his stage designs, music videos, and purple suits have brought life into the music of not only Prince but many after him.
This graphic novel is about someone very similar to Prince that is making that musical journey. She will go through the Ups and Downs of being a musician while also discovering her true self and giving her city a rebirth. I was able to do a quick review below but I have to say, get this graphic novel and read it. You will channel surf into a story that will take you to another world while discovering aspects of a life that could have been.

- The story of this graphic novel is about a woman named Theresa, who that started a band called Starchild. She wanted to create a wave of musical epiphany that will rival Prince himself in the city of Minneapolis. She finds various band members from her city to create a sound that mixes Funk with R&B and much more. Teresa finds out the hard way of trying to make it in the music business with many bookers not wanting her band, Prince himself trying to shelf her and other bands sabotaging her. She experiences a new found life after music that the graphic novel shows tidbits of that will consume your mind to the end.
- Music Appreciation
- I’m excited for this graphic novel to show an appreciation for music showcasing details of how life is for people trying to make it in the music business. The hard fought journey takes a toll on many as they find ways to showcase their sound to the fans while trying to make this a profession.
- Minneapolis Music Scene
- I never realized on how competitive the music scene in Minneapolis really is! Many musicians carved their name out while building their sound and band in that city. This gave me a better prospective on the music scene in that state and city, while also highlighting racial issues for musicians as well.
