Starring Nicolas Cage as a private investigator grappling with his superhero past in 1930s New York, Spider-Noir reimagines the iconic Marvel superhero through a classically noir lens. Setting the tone for this shadowy new world is KIRBY’s main title theme, her soulful vocals and producer Oak Felder’s dramatic, jazz-tinged instrumentation evoking the timeless sound of classic noir cinema. Also making its debut today is the single’s music video, which pairs a powerhouse performance from KIRBY with footage from the series, stylized to echo the look and feel of a comic book brought to life – watch here. Meanwhile, Kris Bowers and Michael Dean Parsons have co-composed music that pushes the orchestral palette—drawing from classic Noir and superhero canon to ground the score in melodic themes built to character and story, with a sonic identity entirely its own.

Bowers and Parsons said in a joint statement, “We drew from classic noir and superhero scoring traditions, but the goal was always to use these as part of a broader toolkit to build something inseparable from the unexpected and singular world of Spider-Noir itself. The score is rooted in themes, with each character defined through a hummable melody, short motifs, and textural elements designed to be combined, transformed, and evolved as the story unfolds. The result is a sound that freely blends orchestra with experimental electronics, theremin, electric guitar, percussion made from NYC street sounds, a broken piano, and even penny whistle.”

Produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, Spider-Noir will premiere Monday, May 25 on MGM+’s linear channel and globally on Prime Video Wednesday, May 27, across more than 240 countries and territories.
