Lego Bricktales is a game that brings the adventure and creativity of building with Legos to the gaming world. I’m a huge Lego fan as I have collected and built numerous Lego sets throughout my life. I’m a big fan of just opening a random box of Legos and just using your imagination to build something. I usually would build a world of tropical islands, fast cars, and of course random refrigerators on my own time. In Lego Bricktales, you will use that imagination to rebuild your grandfather’s world basicly. You will get your inner child out and build some pretty cool stuff throughout the game.
We were able to get a review copy of Lego Bricktales downloaded to our Nintendo Switch. The game was very enjoyable; I had a lot of fun playing the game on the Nintendo Switch. The tutorials early on gave an indication of how to use your bricks to build so many designs easily and fast. The story is excellent where you must help a family member out by rebuilding the world around you. The controls in this game is fantastic and had myself flying throughout the game. I had a tough time with some designs but I strived on.
Here is the review:
Pro:
- Early on Tutorials
- I thoroughly enjoyed the tutorials in the beginning of the story mode when your trying to fix things for your grandpa. Each tutorial gave you the insight on what you can do with your Lego bricks and build upon your imagination. This helped shaped my game play very much later on while playing the game.
- Story
- I liked the story of this game as you literally went on an adventure for your grandpa! You fix things for your grandpa and then figure out that the mayor wants to close down his amusement park. Its up to you to go out and about to make people happy, collect crystals and be creative in your Lego brick designs.
- Controls
- The controls were pretty slick for the character moving around in the game as well as move Lego bricks around to build things. I believe this is the smoothest gameplay I have seen on the Nintendo Switch. When using the controls, it felt so natural, so easy, I forgot that they were there.
Con:
- Challenging
- I have to really think on some of the puzzles to overcome some of the obstacles presented in the story mode. I had to build for an example a bridge that won’t collapse with a few Lego bricks presented in that spot. There were many times where I did get frustrated when simulation showed a failed situation, but I kept on going.
