LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY & TOKYO, JAPAN – Dec. 9th, 2024 – Gun Interactive has hinted that Year 2 of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will feature both a new era and new faces to this legendary IP, while maintaining the importance of legacy and authenticity to the franchise. Today, the team at Gun has revealed two new characters that embody that commitment.
Skeet Ulrich (Scream, Riverdale) lends his voice and likeness as Wyatt, the newest Victim to join the cast of this award-winning horror experience. Skeet’s work ushers in a new story and era for the game, separate from the beloved tale of Maria Flores and her friends that defined the game’s first chapter.
But Wyatt is no stranger to family tragedy and loss. Born nearby the Slaughter Family property and then moving to Lubbock, TX at a young age, Wyatt was close to his brother Casey who lost his life in a tragic bull riding accident. Reeling from Casey’s death, Wyatt throws himself into the same sport that led to his brother’s demise in a self-destructive fit of despair. Winning a local circuit sets him on a path to the Graveyard, where his brother is laid to rest.
In addition to offering a fresh new story set in the world of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the team at Gun continues to innovate the core gameplay mechanics of asymmetrical horror. Wyatt’s Star Sign Ability, Knife Throw, allows him to carry and throw knives at Family members to stun them, creating new avenues for ranged attack and escape strategy.
For the Family side, the team is honored to have Bill Moseley (who played the infamous Choptop in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2) returning to this iconic franchise. Moseley mo-caps, voice acts, and gives his likeness to the newest Killer: Bones, a mortician with a Jekyll & Hyde complex. His workplace makes him the perfect ally to The Slaughter Family, helping them to cover up their heinous crimes.
This update will also see innovation to the way Family plays. Bones’ Star Sign Ability, Gore Bombs, lets him plant explosives on most vertical surfaces on a map, dealing damage and revealing the Victims locations if they set them off. While he may be a bit on the older side, he’s still as deadly as ever: his quick mobility is unlike any other Family member and will shake up gameplay in new and interesting ways.
Tying these two characters together is The Graveyard, where players can expect more intense weather, a gloomy atmosphere, and even a new escape option. Wyatt’s brother’s final resting place is not the only sight to see in the burial grounds Bones calls home: the old gothic church, drenched in soaking rain with the dreary color palette to match brings a whole new feeling of sanctitude to the world of Muerto County.
Gun Interactive shared the following statement from Bill Mosely regarding his return to the franchise:
“I’m excited to see Bones come to life in the horrorscape of Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre! When they contacted me, my first thought was a rib cage and Bones playing it like a xylophone with a couple of ulnas as drumsticks, singing to the moon while his human bbq slow-roasted over an open prairie flame. Dem Bones, dem Bones, dem dry Bones, sing it, daddy!
Happy to work with Gun on this and happy to help develop a new character that not only keeps alive the spirit and language of the Slaughter Family, but embodies the physical energy and movements via motion capture. Yep, it’s all me jumping and swinging! I’ve played Choptop in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, brother Drayton in Texas Chainsaw 3D, so why not push the envelope with Bones?! Hope y’all enjoy chasing the innocent with me and smacking em down as soon as I catch up with them!”
Wyatt and Bones will unlock for free immediately on December 12th, 2024 for all players who own the Content Pass. On sale for $9.99 USD Dec. 19th each for those who don’t.
