Kingston XS1000 External SSD 1TB Review

Kingston’s new external SSD drive titled XS1000 is pretty nifty. The size of the SSD is as large as my thumb, but has the power of a very powerful full sized SSD drive. The XS1000 is Kingston’s way to showcase a new view of SSD’s using better technology and eliminate bulky drives that takes up a lot of space.

We were able to get a review sample of the Kingston XS1000 to review and add to our Holiday Gift Guide 2023. We did an unboxing below to show you what was inside the packaging. I couldn’t believe the XS1000 was pretty tiny in my big hands and it was very exciting. I was able to connect the SSD to my laptop to my surprise with such ease. I was expecting to do additional steps like you would do with other SSD drives but I didn’t have to at all, it worked right away just like the old school plug n play. I was able to copy folders filled with pictures into the drive with such ease.

Our thoughts

Pro:

  • Pocket Sized
    • The SSD drive is pretty tiny ya’ll! This is literally the size of my thumb and it packs a very powerful punch. With 1TB of space, your able to add so much content into this drive.
  • SSD
    • The Kingston XS1000 uses true SSD technology where it doesn’t rely on those bulky magnetic disks. The tech used here is fairly new and now being used more. The speed for this drive is so cool as it feels your moving folders around in a matter of seconds. Very bulky folders I may add!

Con:

  • not USB-C
    • This uses the traditional usb A and with a fast product like how it is, I was hoping it would utilize USB C connection to be at even faster rate of speed. I am ok with this speed though.

Rating: 9 out of 10
