Originally from Colorado, Jawson Dell’s musical journey began at the age of eight with violin lessons, but his true love was always singing. Inspired by the early days of American Idol, Jawson was an avid shower singer who recorded original songs on his cassette radio. Growing up, he immersed himself in a variety of musical genres, including Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Motown, Rock, and Classical, which continue to influence his sound today.
Despite pursuing a double major in business and accounting, Jawson never let go of his musical dreams. He utilized the extra credits required for his CPA to take vocal lessons and remained active in his school orchestra. After graduation, Jawson moved to Chicago, where he began singing at his local church and participating in the city’s vibrant open mic scene.
The Covid-19 pandemic served as a turning point for Jawson, reigniting his passion for songwriting. He released his debut single, ‘Movin On’, in 2021, marking the beginning of his professional music career. Jawson’s creative process is deeply personal and introspective. He writes all his music from scratch, starting with the melody before moving on to the lyrics. Once the foundation is set, he collaborates with his producer to craft the instrumentation.
His latest single, ‘Refresh’, is a testament to Jawson’s evolving artistry. The song is inspired by the feeling of being rejuvenated and the warmth that comes from spending time with supportive, genuine people.
