What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
Angel: “I find inspiration in several things. It can be my own experiences, dreams, fantasies, observations or simply a form of mood”
Tiam: “I am constantly inspired by the wonderful Norwegian landscape that surrounds and overwhelms me every single day. It fuels my music and creativity”
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
Tiam: “My first favorite band was The Beatles, but suddenly one day I was shocked when I first heard and saw the new Norwegian pop sensation; A-ha! A fantastic band which I still love. Then the interest split in two parallel ways; a hard rock way (with WASP, via Helloween, Metallica, King Diamond, Slayer, Death, Paradise Lost to Emperor …) and a pop-way ignited by the 80’s heroes Duran Duran, Alphaville, Samantha Fox (! ), Depeche Mode, U2 etc etc. Eventually, the Brit-pop bands Suede, Manic Street Preachers and Mansun stole my heart”
Baz: “My first cassette was Bruce Springsteen “Born in the USA”. Otherwise Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden, WASP, Metallica, Kiss, A-ha and Ozzy”
Angel: “Growing up, I listened to a lot of rock. Mainly Kiss, Deep Purple, Van Halen and Black Sabbath. As I started playing the keyboard, my interest in Jean Michelle Jarre and Vangelis came in addition to rock and classical music.”
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
Baz: “Naturally my first hero was Bruce Springsteen, then Morten Harket. Favorite drummer Phil Collins and Randy Castillo (Ozzy)”
Angel: “Have never really had a hero in the true sense of the word. But many have still been an inspiration. I’m very fascinated by Samuel Beckett’s lyrics, has read Kafka’s book “The process” many times and think Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solo Eruption is one of the best. Could probably go on indefinitely, but I stop here”
Tiam: “Of course, I had both Morten Harket and Paul Waaktaar as huge heroes. Paul McCartney was also great but he only reached them to their knees (as we say in Norway…). Interestingly, the one I had the most posters of in my bedroom was Samantha Fox …”
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
Tiam: “I cannot really imagine a life without music, but if it exists, I would probably have worked with architecture, writing or cottage gardening”
Angel: “If I had not gotten into music I believe I would have worked with much the same as I do today; making tv-productions, film editing and so on… but let’s be honest, there is no life without music 😉”
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?
Angel: “On your way you will meet people who talk you down. Who will tell you that your music is nothing special and that this just isn’t good enough. Don’t let this tear you down. Don’t listen to them unless they give you some meaningful inputs. Instead believe in yourself and what you are trying to accomplish.”
Tiam: “If music is as important to you as it is to me, there is only one thing to do! Make and create music over and over again, it gets better and better every time! Don’t ever give up :)”
