Today, we sat down with White Harbor to talk inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more! Be sure to check out their music on Spotify below after the interview!
Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?
For me it’s a personal and creative outlet. I’ll be inspired by something personal that may have happened to me or even world events that get me thinking. I typically will lose myself for hours on a track and just tune everything else out.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
Throughout high school and college I listened to a lot of hardcore and metalcore. It was super popular in San Diego at the time and I grew up going to shows and it evolved into playing shows myself. Aside from that my Dad would always play classic rock on the weekends, growing up, working in his garage and due to the power of nolstagia it still resonates with me today.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
My mother. She gave up working to raise three boys and still took the time to support my creative endevours. As a father to one girl myself, I know how much that must have taken out of her.
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
I have no clue. To be honest it’s shaped so many of my life’s decisions I have no idea where I would have been led without it.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
The number 1 thing to remember is why you create music in the first place. It’s so easy to get caught up in what you think others may want to hear and then you’re just sucking out all of the satisfaction you may get as a creator at that point.
