Here is the interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?

Definitely our surroundings, but also our inner surroundings you know? Right now there is a lot going on in the world, and our new single House on Fire is kind of our way of shedding light upon all the nasty sides of human behavior. Change starts with us, you’ve got to carry your weight.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Within the band, there’s a lot of variety in musical taste, and I think that is what makes the music what it is. I personally (Magnus, guitar) grew up in the punk scene, with bands like Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys and The Ramones, before progressing to the more melodic side of punk, or pop-punk as some would call it. Avenged Sevenfold got me into metal without compromising my taste for melodic music, and of course you know..all the classics like Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Free, The Beach Boys, The Beatles etc. the list could go on forever, so I’ll stop here.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

As far as musical heroes, the biggest ones for me has to be, in no particular order:
Synyster Gates, Nuno Bettencourt, Gerard Way, Colson Baker, Ronnie Radke and Travis Barker.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I don’t know, probably criticize other musicians in the comment section of Metal Injection for not being “true metal”, whatever that is.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

Do not give a shit about what other people think. Being creative is something personal, and if people have a problem with you doing that, just ignore them and channel that energy into something great. You got this! Don’t be afraid to like what you like, and don’t be so self-critical that it hinders you from releasing any music at all. Other than that, remember to have fun!

“House on Fire is a metaphor for our world crumbling to pieces, both on an external and an internal level. The song was written a year before the pandemic, and was originally intended to tackle subjects like racism and global climate issues. However, when the pandemic hit we “rebranded” the song and it’s upcoming accompanying video so that it would represent those same issues, but under the overarching glue of terms like injustice, oppression and so forth. The music video is more like a short horror film than a music video, and I can tell you this much: There will be no happy ending. Or will it?” – Magnus Christiansen, guitars
