Interview with Trout Club

Today, we sat down with Malcom Bobro who is the bassist for Trout Club. We discuss his inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more! Be sure to check out the music of Trout Club below on Spotify after the interview.

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

Malcom Bobro – Thank you for asking. Yes, my surroundings play a huge role as well as my lived experience and day-to-day observations.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Malcom – For me it was mostly just a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers. I had the deluxe cd set of their Stadium Arcadium record and listened over and over. Songs like “Animal Bar” and “Hump de Bump” really showed me what it means to groove.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Malcom – Absolutely, as a bassist I idolized those other bassists that could unlock the groove of any song and find their niche amongst the other rhythm instruments. For this very reason, I’d have to say Fieldy from Korn was my biggest inspiration. And you can’t deny he contributed to a sound that turned out to be financially successful.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Malcom – Enjoying a more robust bank account (laughs)

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Malcom – First, ignore my previous answer (laughs uproariously). On a more serious note, music is a force for good in this world; if we all gave up it would be gone. Be part of keeping a good force alive!
