You travel to different cities to perform for various crowds while bringing your music to the masses. This next band just wants to come to your town, kick some ass on stage and then just have fun. We are able to sit down with The Jailbirds and get some insightful information of music and their heroes!

Here is the interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?

(answered by Myke) It’s everything! It could be as simple as someone says something in every day life, and you think to yourself “wow that would be a neat lyric”. It can come from looking at nature, watching TV, playing a video game for example, anywhere! And of course, huge inspiration always comes from listening to music that resonates with you in some way. I try to listen to new and exciting music when I’m feeling like I’m in a rut!

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

I listened to what my parents did, which was mainly Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, things like that. It was when I was 12, where my attention was first grabbed by AC/DC’s Thundrstruck. It was playing on the radio, and I remember almost immediately speaking up to my parents and asking if I could learn how to play the guitar! Hahaha Then I dove headfirst into ACDC, GNR, Metallica, bands like that!

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

I would say there’s a lot of idols that I look up to, Slash being one big one for me. He’s always so chill and well spoken, he genuinely seems to be a great dude. And that has always resonated with me, even from a young age. Myles Kennedy is another example, he’s just a calm and collected musician and he is very humble, I really love that about those guys!

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I have no idea haha Literally. There’s nothing else I can see myself doing.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

Take your time, no rush! Just do what makes you happy, you will never get anywhere making music for others. It has to come from your heart, and be true to you. Oh, and stop comparing yourself to the other bands online!!! We all have different paths, and just because another band gets a cool gig, doesn’t make you lesser off. Try to find a way to feel happy for your peers for getting a cool gig =) you’re all in this together, remember that.
