The notebook is etched with words that sparks thoughts of a mini symphony in the mind. Those symphony’s are converted to the music that Tarah Who? jams to for their fans. We are able to sit down with Tarah Who? and talk music inspiration, advice for musicians and their amazing taste in music.

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
TGC: Yes! Everything. People, the world, the news…everything and everyone.
‘Numb Killer’ for instance was about the terrorist attacks in Manchester, ‘Manners’ on our upcoming album is about education and religion… The songs that I write are definitely personal and autobiographical. They are about my thoughts and experiences. What I feel passionate about.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
CH : I started to listen to classic rock like AC/DC, Guns’N’Roses and Bon Jovi …. when I was 10. Around 12 my uncle showed me Nightwish, a symphonic metal band, and I fell in love with this genre.
TGC: First, and foremost, my mom would blast Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Tangerine Dream etc.. while cleaning the house! So I grew up listening to that. Then when I was old enough to pick my own music and understand it a little, I got into Alanis Morissette, and then the whole grunge, punk era appeared in my life. Motorhead, The Distillers, L7, Smashing Pumpkins, TOOL, Pantera, RATM etc.. etc…
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
TGC: I would not say a hero, no… I looked up to my mom a lot, I still do. She is a real warrior. A very strong-minded woman.As far as musicians go… Yeah I was a big Alanis fan for a very long time! lol! but I never wanted to be like her or write like her, I think it was more like an artist thing. I felt what she was going through. I could relate .. like I think every woman who listened to JLP at the time! lol! Or now even..The beauty of timeless music.
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
CH : I don’t see myself doing anything else hahahaha but if I really have to say something it would be archeologist, I love history.
TGC: Yeah I m the same.. I am a musician because that’s all I see myself doing. It is definitely my spark. I understand it, writing is a therapy. Clearly, we are not doing this because “It’s the easy way” or because we make a fortune! You only stay a pro musician out of passion.
There are other things I am interested in but I get easily bored and I know I would not last. I would be miserable. I have tried. It is just not where my heart is so, why waste my time doing anything else?… Which is really hard to try to explain to anyone who has a stable, secure career! But It is almost like I am protecting my sanity and my soul! We all get older, I get it.. and there will be a time when I won’t be able to perform …Well.. we’ll see! We’re not there yet, are we?
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?
CH : Do what you love no matter what other people say, and you will be fine.
TGC: If you want to create music, remember to stay authentic and true to yourself. Anyone can imitate a famous person. The beauty of ART is to create something unique. Don’t play music because it’s cool. Do it as a way of expressing yourself.
