Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

Kyle: I do not get inspired melodically.  But I get inspired daily with lyrical ideas and themes.  Most of my lyrical inspiration comes from movies and TV shows.

Kaity: It just kind of appears for me…I’ll literally be falling asleep and then all of a sudden a whole song will appear in my head. It always happens at night-but I need to be thinking of a specific topic. It’s always heavily inspired by the 70’s-that’s really the only music I listen to.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Kyle:  Music was not as accessible when I was a kid.  I was forced to listen to what CDs my older sisters had.  Mainly 90s and 2000s pop: Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Savage Garden, etc.  They eventually acquired some burned CDs with 80s power ballads on them and I was hooked.  80’s Hair metal all the way.

Kaity: I listened to classic rock with my parents growing up, then as a teenager I hit the grunge area pretty hard! I loved all of that stuff…I mean it was my formative years. How could you not? Loved bands like Veruca Salt, No Doubt, Hole, Alanis…etc.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Kyle: My parents.  They supported my musical career even when they did not understand it at all.

Kaity: Hmmm. No one really comes to mind…I was always just very goal oriented. It was never the person-more like the goal or achievement.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Kyle:  I really don’t know.  I tried living my life without a musical outlet for a year and it was a place I don’t want to go to again.

Kaity: I think if I wasn’t born with this obsession to be a musician….I’d be in events or something like that. I love putting on parties. Making people happy, meeting people etc. It’s one of my favourite parts about being a singer.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Kyle: Don’t be discouraged by the people that come and go in your musical journey.  The musicians that were a part of your most magical live performance may not be the musicians that are a part of your greatest recorded song.  It is a journey.  Musicians and people have different tastes and desires.  Not every musical relationship is going to last forever.  It is okay for you to move on to a new project or for your friend to leave the band.  This is normal.

Kaity: WRITE WRITE WRITE and don’t judge it too much. Just throw everything against the wall and see what sticks. Half the time-what I don’t like is what everyone loves. So you just never know!

Also, I cannot stress this enough DO NOT TAKE SOCIAL MEDIA SERIOUSLY. It’s an illusion.
