Today, we sat down with Show Your Face to talk about music they listened to growing up, music inspiration and much more! Be sure to check out their music below after the interview!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?

Truth be told, music comes from within. Our songs reflect our personal experiences, our principals and beliefs. Everything that makes us mad… injustice in the world, towards the weak, lack of meritocracy. Our style changed over the years, as we evolved. We began as a Thrashcore metal band and, then, we added Progressive, Groove and melodic elements! Our new album will be more Deathcore, but without losing our original style. It will be released this year and will include 7 new songs and our Single “Shot at dawn”, which is already available on YouTube!

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Well, we all started listening late 80’s and 90’s music, so our biggest influences are Metallica, Slayer and Sepultura. Some later bands that have inspired us over the years are: Gojira, Architects, Meshuggah and Whitechapel. However, besides Metal music we listen, also, to Rock music, Blues and classical music. Something that only a few people know about us is that some of us have a classical music past! We believe that the more influences you have, the more unique sound you can create!

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

We don’t believe that hero is the right terminology. There is no parthenogenesis in art! And with that said, everyone can contribute their part in music. Obviously, some more than others. For example, James Hetfield, whose contribution is unique. However, in our opinion the key ingredient is people, who do what they love and most importantly, have fun!

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Apart from our band we also have our full-time jobs, which give us the means to focus in our music, creating and playing the music we love! For example, Huge runs his own recording studio!

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

Nowadays, it is quite easy to create your own music. What is missing, though, it is the passion of the past. Perhaps, it is this convenience that distracts people from putting in their souls in their music. Oftentimes, it is more about quantity than quality. Nevertheless, we believe that in order to succeed in, you need to be true to yourself and Show Your Face! This is where our name came from! The best advice we can give is to make music because you love it! Not for the money or for the fame! It takes hard work and personal sacrifice, but don’t give up and do it no matter what. We riot alone!
