Interview:
How did you get your start in music?
We are Show Your Face, a Groove Hardcore metal band from Karditsa, Greece. The band was originally formed back in 2007. We were young, restless and driven by our passion for music. We have been performing in many Live Stages in Greece and abroad and have released 3 albums, one demo and one single: YOU CAN’T AVOID (Demo 2007) LOST FAITH (EP 2009 ) UNLEASH (2011) APNEA (2013) APNEA (2013 – Japanese Edition) SHOW YOUR FACE-III (2017) .
What type of music did you listen to while growing up?
Well, we grew up listening to late 80’s and 90’s metal music so our biggest influences are Metallica, Slayer and Sepultura. Some later bands that have inspired us over the years are: Gojira, Architects, Meshuggah and Whitechapel. However, besides Metal music we listen, also, to Rock music, Blues and classical music. We believe that the more influences you have, the more unique sound you can create! Our songs reflect our personal experiences, our principals and beliefs. As well as, the need for something different. With our music, we fight against the struggle of people trying to improve their lives today, but finding themselves helpless. Against the agony that everyone only cares for themselves. It’s a tribute to all these people, to feel they are heard and they are not alone. We are all together in this. We want you to come forward and SHOW YOUR FACE!!!
What are fun stories you can share while you’re in the studio recording music?
Most of our albums (except for our 3rd album) were recorded in our own studio, so imagine a lot of fun, jamming sessions, drinking (!) and great ideas on the spot! A very cool story is how the band actually started. It all started quiet randomly, as an experimental project. Our guitarist, Achilleas Koutras had the idea to try something different. He and Vissaris Papaioannou (our first drummer) had written the first song “Innocent Cries”. They were looking for a singer for the band at the time. So one day, I (Huge) was hanging out with them at the studio, as they were rehearsing and I just picked up the page with the lyrics and sang along and… that was it! The beginning of Show your Face! And here we are 14 years later! In 2013 our other guitarist, Kostas Karageorgos, joined the band and with our drummer Sakis spiropoulos, we were led to the form that we have today!
What is your latest song or album you can share with us?
This year we are we are releasing our 4th album, titled “The Definer”. It includes 8 songs and has strong Deathcore influences. Our Single “Shot at dawn” and “The Descent” which are already available on YouTube and 6 new songs, so STAY TUNED!!!!
