Today, we sat down with Constantine from Redreigner to talk start in music, music jamming to growing up and much more. Be sure to check out his band’s music below after the interview!
Interview:
How did you get your start in music?
Constantine: We (Constantine and Petros) have had a strong relationship with music from a somewhat young age. Petros is the older brother so he got an earlier start and listening to him play just pulled me in.
What type of music did you listen to while growing up?
Constantine: Mostly Death Metal. Death RIP Chuck, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Bolt Thrower, Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass and the lot. Slayer and Testament of course. Cynic. Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson were a big influence on me. Lot’s of blues, especially the three Kings. We are brothers who grew up together in a basement, listening to and playing music so it varied a lot.
What are fun stories you can share while you’re in the studio recording music?
Constantine: We are actually quite focused when we record so not a lot of fun stories that I can remember. A bad take always cracks us up. Some of the guitars on our first release were recorded in a building with horrible mains and the amplifiers would get a gain and volume boost every time we’d fire up the kitchen to make something to eat. We ended up keeping those takes and joke about it every time we talk about replicating that sound live!
What is your latest song or album you can share with us?
Constantine: Our latest is our first EP as Redreigner and hopefully just the beginning. It came out late December of 2021. We’ve got a bunch of singles coming out for 2022. Chris Dovas (Seven Spires, Dovas, Vital Remains etc.) Guested on drums. It was a blast having him. John Mcris did the mastering at Hell’s Kitchen Recording Studio in Athens and Natasha Papika took care of the cover. Really talented people.
