Today, we sat down with Romeo Bassi who is the lead guitarist and singer of the band Reaven! Be sure to check out Romeo’s band’s music below on Spotify after the interview!
Here is the interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
“My inspiration is coming from everywhere. It can be my surroundings for sure, but also a personal feeling, my own experience of life… But sometimes, a sunset during a trip, a moment of silence during the night…. I like to think that inspiration isn’t always coming from the same things. To me, it’s a constant evolution coming from existence.”
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
“All the period from the 60’s & 70’s. The Beatles are my Bible (laughs)!! But also Led Zep’, Hendrix, Clapton, Pink Floyd… All the standards from this period, and later I’ve been listening to more recent bands like Muse, Placebo, Kings of Leon, The Killers… On the other hand I did listen to a lot of Rhythm’N’Blues (Otis Redding, Percy Sledge…) and practiced a lot of classical music.”
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
“John Lennon I guess! Also, I think that heroic things come from ordinary people in the daily life.”
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?
“I would probably finish the book that I’m writing. Create companies. Try to build something with my own hands, but always filled with creativity. To escape a bit from reality.”
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?
“Keep on working and practicing!! Never stop, never give up! Try as hard as you can, art without work isn’t art, it’s just being lucky once, but it doesn’t last”
