Today, we sat down with Nyki King to discuss inspiration to write music, type of music listened to growing up, and much more!
Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
My inspiration for writing music would be love for humanity. Many things we go through along our journey are common. Depression, love, loss, heartbreak, and hope are all examples of this. I like to write about negative situations, bearing positive solutions.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
I listened to and loved Michael Jackson, The Carpenters, Abba, Janis Joplin, The Doors, etc.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
My father will always be my hero. He taught me everything I know, including to be a man of God.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?
I would be investing my time and searching for donations to start a foundation, to be run by like minded individuals, to help children and families who struggle to get by.
What advice do you have for your fans out there that want to create music?
I would say if it’s a passion, just create and create. You can do anything you put your mind to; believe in yourself; never give up or stop trying to improve; the more of anything you do, the better you will be.
