Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

Mantalena: I think you to be in the right mental state, you need to be focused and calm, this way you can channel all the stimulation and influences that you get from everyday life and turn them into music. Emotions and experiences play a big part in your life so why not write a song about it and share it?

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Mantalena: I was a big metalcore fan. When I was in my teens metalcore was popular, I also used to play guitar in a metalcore band. I also listened to a lot of pop-punk, alternative rock, some nu metal too, but this came later.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Mantalena: Haley Williams, I liked her a lot for her spirit she was very true to what she was doing, I liked her energy and I wanted to do that on stage too!

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

Mantalena: It would be something that has to do with water sports. I like water, I have fun in it, drums are a very good way to relieve yourself from stress, if I didn’t have them in my life, I can’t think of a better thing to take their place.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Mantalena: Pick up your instrument and write. I usually have a rough idea of what I want to do, I pick up the instrument and I write until it goes somewhere. I think to myself, I want it to have a dancing vibe, so I make the drums groovy etc. I also try to think of the other instruments when writing something, for instance when I write something on the guitar, I think what the drums are doing instead and this takes it into another direction.
